The Tribe would like to announce our newly named head boy’s basketball coach, Anthony McKissic, Sr. The Columbus, GA native comes over to lead the boy’s program after serving as an assistant with our girl’s staff last season. McKissic is a graduate of Southwestern College in Winfield, Kansas where he was a member of the football and men’s basketball teams. His greatest inspiration in basketball has been his high school coach, Donald Stroy. “He helped me get to his college alma mater and took time with me along the way. He didn’t have to do that. I’ve tried to adopt that same approach of going the extra mile with my own players,” McKissic said.
Coach McKissic’s vision for the Creekside program is to put the best product on the floor to represent our school and community. He said, “I want us to be the best version of ourselves, which could vary from season to season.” Acknowledging that his ultimate goals won’t happen overnight, he has embraced the phrase, Trust the Process. “We have to appreciate the small victories within the game, like having a better field goal percentage or fewer turnovers. When you do those things, big victories will come.” He looks forward to building relationships within the community and our feeder schools.
McKissic is husband to Liana, a teacher at Tri-Cities HS, and father of three: Jerica, Anthony Jr., and Amani.
